In 2007, Mr. Shadreck Chikoti, the volunteer director of Kanyenyeva Orphan Care Ministry, was able to come to the US to speak to many different groups about the orphans of Kanyenyeva.
One of the things that he stressed was that the people of Kanyenyeva don’t want handouts in order to help the orphans; the people of Kanyenyeva would like to be financially self-sufficient.
Unfortunately, due to the economic circumstances of their country, they are unable to take care of the orphans in their area. What they would like is help starting small businesses so they can help themselves.
