Shoe Drive 2018

What do our shoes and food for children in Malawi have in common?

For every 5 pairs of shoes donated to Malawi Orphan Care Project through our shoe drive, we can provide 4 meals for children in Malawi! That sounds simple. Find your unwanted yet still usable shoes and bring them to any of our drop off locations.

The shoe drive is from November 4 – 18 at:

Crowe’s Shoes

First English Lutheran Church

Lexington Church of the Cross

and from November 1 – 30 at:

Blankets for Life

We are raising money to purchase blankets for orphans and other vulnerable children in Malawi. You can help us get $10,000 by voting for our cause at KIND Foundation. Ten thousand dollars will purchase over 700 blankets. PLEASE vote for our cause at https://www.kindsnacks.com/foundation/causes/cause/blankets-for-life/ This is such an easy way to help kids be safer and healthier. PLEASE VOTE!!!!!

To vote you commit to do a kind act. Then you can increase the number of your votes by sharing via email, twitter, and facebook for a total of three additional votes. We need all the votes that we can get by the last day of July.

Blankets in rural Malawi are a luxury. Malawi is one of the world’s most underprivileged countries. About 85% of the population of Malawi lives in rural areas and depends on subsistence farming. These families focus on basic necessities for their survival. A blanket is not considered a basic necessity. When these families take in orphans and other vulnerable children they share what little they have with even more people. In the colder months of May – August it is not uncommon for families to have fires inside their huts to keep warm. These inside fires are unhealthy and it is not uncommon for children to burn themselves because they slept close to the fire or for the hut to catch on fire. During the colder months school attendance drops by 25% due to preventable illnesses from the cold.

Please help more children attend school. When they have a blanket the children will be more rested, healthier, and better able to learn. As they grow into their future years, the children will be in a better position to make a positive impact in their communities. In their culture they will ‘pay it forward’ and provide for others in their community.

PLEASE vote for our cause at https://www.kindsnacks.com/foundation/causes/cause/blankets-for-life/ This is such an easy way to help kids be safer and healthier. PLEASE VOTE!!!!!

Please note that KIND Foundation has been having difficulty with their method of voting through Facebook. If you cannot vote through Facebook please vote through an email address.

Manna for Malawi 2017

Manna for Malawi will be held on Sunday, June 25 from 4 – 8 pm. at the Woodtick Inn in Cuyna, MN.

The Lamant Cranston Band will perform again this year at this annual music and food benefit.

Other featured artists will include Gravel Roads, Christian country band based in Anoka.  Italian food prepared by Maucieri’s in Crosslake will be served. A freewill offering will be taken. Last year’s event brought in more than $25,000. All proceeds from the music fundraiser go directly to the MOCP feeding program.

Kanyenyeva Ministry Executive Director Shadrek Chikoti says “again, there will be hunger in most parts of Malawi this year. The price of maize continues to skyrocket in the coming months. More mouths to feed and less to feed them with. We are truly blessed by MOCP.”

Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby, MN sponsors this event which raises money for the feeding program.
